A major challenge of Cambodia’s future economic development is to diversify and upgrade its export based beyond the current breadwinners garment, footwear and tourism. In recent years much research has been undertaken to identify the main priority products for export promotion and the constraints of Cambodia’s competitiveness. One of the main competitive advantages of Cambodia is the favorable access to world markets. Besides its membership of ASEAN and WTO, Cambodia signed various bilateral trade agreements. Furthermore, in the status of Least Developed Country (LDC) Cambodia enjoys tariff-free market access to the European Union.
